This print represents a family home in Austin, Texas. It was commissioned by the granddaughter of the owner who was selling it after living there their whole life. The owner specifically requested that I include their beautiful magnolia tree and greenery. I used vague shapes and hatching in the darkest nooks of the home and more outlines and stark shapes where the sun hits. What I find most interesting about this house portrait is the emphasis on the way the architecture and surrounding greenery hug each other. There's a fine line between wildness and careful planning that are the mark of a well-loved and lived-in home.
